Well, as nice as it would be to have more information on the future of the series, at least we finally got a Bandai kit. I quite like the 30MM and 30MS lines and own several of them, including the Iglight 01. It's nice, I would recommend it as a starter kit.

Grips as a modeler:

• Even if the model's sprue is "touch gate", use clippers and/or hobby knife if available. Twisting and damaging a part is still a possibility and not all nubs can come off cleanly.

Bandai's 30 Minutes Label line is nothing short of amazing, not to mention loads of fun. And like Yanmo I insist on using nippers and a hobby knife while building them... which is why it always takes me longer than 30 minutes to build.

So far Bandai's been marketing the 30ML line as sort of their "Lego."

... So what I'd be more worried about is them wandering deeper into the rabbit hole that is customization. It's amazing what people are able to come up with despite not actually mutilating parts.

Worse, losing the piece that keeps the vfin in place. You can have a Finless suit and still looks normal but if you lose the forehead it's a gaping hole.

Yesterday was the 1 year anniversary of me returning to this series with chapter 1.5. It's been a productive time, across all series and one-shots, I've got 32 chapters of Mitaina! out in the last year. Not bad.

The previous chapters still haven't been added to Comic Newtype. Also no new chapters have been released. However, there is one small nugget of hope.

On the 10th, JKMG will get its first ever tankoubon. I've done the maths on the page count and I'm fairly sure that this book will contain everything currently released, no idea if they'll be any bonus material. But, it is explicitly being marketed as volume 1, so if this is everything so far, I guess there's hope for a volume 2.

I was wondering how things were turning out with JK MG when I saw Wakaki tweet about there being enough chapters for a tankoubon. Pleasantly surprised about this chapter that I slipped past me since you posted it.

As a personal fan of Wakaki's works (to the point of scanlating several of his series myself) I admire the level of research and subject matter knowledge you bring to this. Also, as a person who has also gone through the ancient arts of debinding and physically scanning RAWs, I'm continuously impressed by the dedication you've had in bringing this series into English. Real kudos to you, and I'll be watching to see if there's any news or bonus material that you may want to add. Apparently there's a column from Doug (/'Dagu') added.
(Sidenote: Do you know if his name being written as "ダグ来栖" in [personal name]-[surname] order has a specific significance? I know that diasporic Japanese usually have their names written in katakana and that non-Japanese retain their name order)

Firstly thank you for the kind words. I have pre-ordered two copies (one for me and one for debinding) so any bonus content will be coming.

Regarding the name order, I'm not really sure. At first I assumed he was mixed race and likely grew up outside of Japan, but that was purely speculation on my part and seems to be false, since the interview in volume 9 describes him growing up in Japan in the 70s and 80s.

Beyond that interview we don't really know much about him. I found his Twitter once but it was pretty much empty besides a couple of pictures of the real model of the GuP tank from chapter 1.

Next time I upload I'll change the name in the DB to Dagu for consistency, since the cover would suggest that's how it's supposed to be romanised.
