Unless the saw was really terrible, in which case she should have got another one, she went through much more work this way. If she was using a power drill, be it corded or cordless, it would have naturally made a big difference. I have a feeling woodwork isn't this mangaka's forte.Did she drill the holes by hand? With just a drill bit? That is pretty hardcore.
Thank you for the chapter.
She definitely ended up doing more work, but the point of that scene was she applied a method typically associated with plastic modeling to woodworking.Unless the saw was really terrible, in which case she should have got another one, she went through much more work this way. It's a "better" design for fumes than the venting fan she was using the previous chapters. If you've been to a chemistry lab, you've probably seen one. It's mostly the same design as a fume hood, which is great for working with volatile chemicals and aerosols, like from spray cans and airbrushes. But since her box so small it doesn't really have the same advantage. The working area is still outside of the box and she still has to spray at the box like she was before. Without a sash you don't really take full advantage of the design since the fan is sucking a lot of air from outside of the box, instead of the air and vapors inside a mostly enclosed box. Not to say it wouldn't work as is, but it wouldn't take a lot of modification to get the most out of it. If it's big enough to fit her hands and either the can or the airbrush, she just needs to cover the entrance with something transparent, with enough clearance to allow her hands and the equipment inside the box.At first this chapter weirded me out. Boxes with inbuilt air sucking, just for that? I though it was just some modelers being fastidious or that I was missing something by not airbrushing.
Then I remember those things are essentially miniature versions of the air extractor boxes some of my FLGS have for spray priming models. True, they're a bit different in design and not for the same purpose but...
