Yeah its rather gross, he's resolved to maintain a distance and draw a line, doing it at least somewhat for her sake even if hes a bit misguided. She is outright manipulating and exploiting him, while he even feels guilty and torn about it. Doesn't even seem like the authors intention, feels like they genuinely just think its a funny romcom scenario but without the cutesy aesthetic presentation this would be tagged psychological rather than a romcom manga. And something tells me the author is a woman.
