I was wondering if Tsurugi would be willing to strike Maru down last week, never would've expected a flashback bringing Mai up to show Why he couldn't go through with it tho... reading that so close to the Perfect Preparation episode of the anime, there's no way I couldn't get emotional over that lol
I'd like to think that, similar to Toji breaking the fate tying Gojo, Geto, Riko, and Tengen together, Tsurugi making a binding vow to lower his cursed energy gave him the power to change fate too. If things kept up the way they were going, I doubt any of our main characters would reach a true Happy Ending, but by refusing to strike Maru down (and refusing the culture and "strength" that brought him to a fight with Maru in the first place) there's still time for everyone to turn back and make things right.......
and speaking of the plan, it's been so long since we've seen someone talk about creating a world without cursed spirits! It put the biggest smile on my face seeing Yuji talk about Yuki (and Choso by extension) and busting out the book filled with her life's work to aid Maru, I'm glad that her legacy persists so many years later in a big way like this. Maru's technique seems to interact with nature itself so combining that with Idle Transfiguration and a shitload of cursed energy should make for an interesting time. Was hilarious seeing Mahito get forcefully roped into the plan too, I think that's an even funnier outcome than just having Yuji obliterate him in a rematch lol
this chapter's got me thinking a Ton but there's one last thing I can't help but wonder about: if Maru and crew are in the space between life and death, I wonder if it's still possible for Yuka and Tsurugi to pop up here to help out too? Unless Rika was able to heal Tsurugi after talking to Maru, he's bleeding out somewhere still, and with Dabura's incredible growth as a sorcerer (his Domain Expansion looks sick, by the way) it's likely that Mahoraga will lose soon and Yuka's death will be "finalized". Hell, we don't know Cross' condition either so it's not impossible his connection to Maru would draw him there. I wouldn't Mind if Maru handles this without the others but I'd love to see Yuka, Tsurugi, and Cross' spirits pass through this place to turn it into a true group effort before hopefully giving them all a second chance at life in a world without cursed spirits. Would be a nice cap to Yuka's arc especially with how she decided she wanted to be reborn as Tsurugi's younger sister once again before heading out to throw Mahoraga at Dabura...
