He's a pharmacist, not a psychiatrist, and depressants are dangerous, especially if they're the strong variety (which this is likely the case cause Suekane's wife was terminal, and doctors are more lenient on giving almost dead people strong drugs)

100% and I would like this to be the thing to really push him over the edge but it seems like he may be the type of person that wants to do good but doesn't realize the harm. IDK

Not surprising in the least.
But this is what happens when you butt in and try to help in these kinds of situations.
The only thing I am surprised about is Tateo's carelessness. You'd think a pharmacist who has already administered potentially mortal drugs to elderly people and that have driven them to their deaths would learn the lesson... but nope. Ruined his life, and he's on the road to ruin his friend's and lover's lives as well.
