Just Because My Apprentice Is the Strongest, Doesn’t Mean I’m Strong Too! - Ch. 8

Why are they calling him an impostor just because his firepower and sustain is low? The only criteria to be s-ranked is having defeated a beast belonging to the list of seven species. Which he has. Twice. One time even being an adult one.
The criteria would make you s-ranked even if you hatched one and slew it instantly, as a hatchling.

The guild is clearly meritocratic in terms that it only cares about results. Why should it matter if the person sucks at swords, if they are great at spells? Or sucks at both, if they are great at making use of magical items? So what if you are weak in all ways, if you have the ability to call upon a billion soldiers (be that summoned or because you are a king) and proven that you can bring about results that way. And so on. MC clearly has the ability to fight those beasts with his own strength, given a party of lower-than-s-ranked rank.

Honestly, the writing is kinda bad imo, in how it seems to make everyone care about useless stuff. It is one thing if mc had a complex alone, but clearly swordgirl uses the same terminology as him as if she consider strength a criteria.

Exactly my thoughts.
The fuck is she talking about, he literally defeated the legendary (adult) monster with normal human-tier abilities and a fuckton of cannons. He gave humanity a way to fight against ice dragons, that's exactly why they gave him that new rank. Even if they didn't, the kill alone gives him the S rank.
It's just retarded writing to make the samurai fall in love even harder by the virtue of "he's risking his life for the mage, that so cool"

Same thoughts as the two above, like he’s s rank for more then just magic power, he’s been able to handle more then one s rank quest, and also has found ways to improve the way the guild handles monsters. It’s kinda stupid that they’re so caught up in him not being as talented in magic as the others.

My expectations are low for mangas because of how bad most of them are. For me, at least they didnt play with misunderstanding or hide the unneeded secret for a stupidly long time and also mc is not a cheaply written op character. This is already better than isekai trash and Im grateful and hope that it stays good till the end.

I completely agree with you three
But I also agree with the manga with one thing.
There is a difference between an all-mighty omnipotent magician that would never fail that can solo even the strongest monster and someone that is just really smart and good in using his average power.
The manga is being completely retarded in how they handle it, but I think she has the right to be at least upset that he lies to them.
It would be fatal and could cost the lives of countless if he ever gets sent on a mission by the guild to fight some stupidly powerful monster and fails because the guild thought they were strong enough.
Not to speak of them being adventurers. You want to, and have to trust everyone in your party. For the teamwork and the safety of the party. Someone lying about their abilities would be fatal.

I'm glad we all agree the story is retarded on this one.

This said, the reaction of the samurai girl is understandable. She's an idealist who imposes her values into others.
Thus MC lying about his capabilities is morally outrageous for the samu-girl.

I love those basic yet retarded tropes a lot and I really wish to read more chapters soon!
Having so much chapters published today is a bliss!

I predict the samugirl will go over this situation, acknowledge his efforts to keep up and MC will keep the charade for the rest of the story.

She lost To him...so that means she is weaker then a B class.

So she is the imposter then..also his tactics took down another dragon something that she would have died to cause she was ready to just charge in.....watch her just get all cutesy with him instead -_-. Bad writing right here

Sure, she has the right to be upset for him lying to her about his strength. But her comment about him lying about his rank is just idiotic. He fulfilled the criteria to get S-rank. He is S-rank.

She saw it with her own two eyes, so threatening him with capital punishment for lying about being s-rank makes absolutely no sense. Better if she just try to kill him because she is personally upset that he also said he is strong enough to serve as a safety net when they mess up.

I mean yeah, what I said
The manga is being completely retarded in how they handle it

and since mc ignores the comment, it seems to be a writing skill issue of the author

I don't disagree with him being straight forward, but don't state it in such a manor of fact way.. I would have responded "At the very least, I do not view myself as an S rank"

Update:
I don't really care now
