It's not trying to redeem him, it just shows how he made each one fall from just being conflicted or having issues, to full blown psychos. The whole VR shit was poorly handled, the whole point was to just show MC used to be friends with him or whatever.

I am disappointed in author this time. After all this edgy build up, you just made an basic version of a pre-teen struggling with the concept of sex. You could have taken it further:

Ushiro Yuuga is a 10? yo boy. He comes home everyday with nothing to look forward to. His mom is a sex worker and his dad is present. He doesn't like his situation and feels bad about anything related to sex... except that the thought of it makes him feel good.

On his way home from school, Ushiro, notices the lights on in his home. "Mom's home". But she wasn't alone. She is getting her back broken by one of her customers. The forbidden sounds are too much for Ushiro, and a window with the slightest gap is available for him to see. "SEX IS BAD. SEX IS BAD", Ushiro resists. His 10?yo body has yet to catch up with his mind (or is it the other way around). Ushiro peers through the gap, eyes widen, mouth frothing. "OOOAAAHOOO".

Okay im getting lazy so I'm gonna speed this up.

His excitement alerts the man ramming his mother, "What are you looking at?". Ushiro panics and runs away. He returns home later that night.
(KEEP THE MOM TALKING TO SON SCENE).

The next day at school, a classmate confesses to Ushiro. (KEEP THE SCENE AS IS EXCEPT THAT USHIRO TRIES TO DO THE DEED ON HIS OWN BUT FAILS TO GET IT UP. NO SHIGOKU). "That's it? THAT'S IT?! I FELT NOTHING!!!!"

Ushiro runs home. "MOM YOU LIED. I DID IT AND FELT NOTHING. YOU SAID SEX IS GOOD."

"USHIRO!! YOU DID WHAT?!" With her hand cladden in all the golden gifts , she smacks Ushiro in the head.

Bleeding and dazed, Ushiro continues "But you know, I always felt good when I saw you do it..."

"Who was it? Was it a child from your school? Ugh... I am going to have to talk to the parents..."

"Mom, I understand now. Only you can satisfy me."

"What are you saying?! Dammit... did I hit him too hard."

(NOW SHIGOKU CAN SHADOW WALK INTO THE SCENE)

WHAM! Shigoku smashes a bottle on the back of Ushiro mom's head, knocking her unconscious.

"Huh? WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!" Ushiro grabs Shigoku.

"Go on. Now's your chance." The darkest seeds in Ushiro's mind begin to flower. "Don't worry, she's currently just unconscious. I'll be heading home," Shigoku walks out.

Ushiro standing before his mother who layed limp on the ground. From this day, he will learn what sex is.

I'm debating whether or not to add his mom's realization in the aftermath and her revenge suicide note she left behind: "you'll never feel pleasure again", a note which leads Ushiro on his raping spree in the beginning of the manga in an attempt to feel good now that his mother is gone.

Alternatively, he could have ran home back home and told his mother how he felt as in the above. But she responds with something to the effect of "I'll be waiting for when you are older," with the same look she had on page 9.

However, both options don't end in the thematic fashion of "This is my first sin".

This, but I don't think this is VR stuff. This is just flashback filler I assume while the author comes up with the finale.
