Because they already were halfway there. The one in the current chapter would have lashed out any time soon. The one before was a sociopath and narcicist, if not for kyou he would have had a similar reaction later. He only needed a push.

Unfortunately, sometimes all people need is affirmation of their darker traits or their insecurities to let loose and be so devoted. That’s most evident in Madoka’s and the cult members like Momoki and the guy who was best buds with the hand fetish guy cases

Rather than justification, this author is just running out of ideas. He raped and murdered most of the characters already.
