The real crime is the author writing her that unreal. She was almost raped just recently, then almost killed even more recently by a psycho kidnapper, yet here she is, returning to an underground bar, where minors consume booze, act as prostitutes, and... she was again almost raped. Oh, yeah, and she witnessed that extremely suspicious scene by accident. But none of that made her rather resign by sending a text message to her "friend". This is such dodgy writing that I find it difficult to blame the character.

You are absolutely correct. It is for this reason and the author's (or perhaps the distributor they work with) decision to prolong a story that shouldn't be as long as it is, that I dropped it.
