I suggest removing Manga Up! global since to read chapters past the first one, you need an account and to create an account you need to download their mobile app and create one there before they allow you to sign in via browser. https://global.manga-up.com/login
Ideally we'd be able to only link to chapters that are fully available with no accounts, but I don't think their API (we had to guess the endpoints and response shapes) has a way to display that information for us to be able to correctly filter out links...
More official links is generally a good thing. Adding a bot to streamline updates is also a good thing:chad:

...but

Flooding the updates feed is always a bad user experience and ultimately counterproductive. Users get pissed and block the officials, other users stop using the website at least temporarily to avoid the flood, and every single series (official or not) posting an update runs a high risk of not being seen. And thus the website is worse off because it's now less reliable and far fewer people will see the officials.

This exact situation has cropped up many times before so now it feels like a deliberate choice by MD to roll out the initial wave of updates in the worst way possible. I'm not saying it is deliberate, but a mea culpa isn't exactly going to feel genuine either.

Edit: or least add a big ol prominent ahemnotice letting folks know why things are and an ETA...
It's been in a planning stage since 2023 back when we started outlinking to Shueisha's MangaPlus releases.
And yeah, we know that when backfilling new sources, the chapters showing up in the feed is... not ideal... (to say the least)
If anyone reading this is interested, please upvote the following suggestion regarding silent uploads so the devs put it higher in the feature roadmap: https://forums.mangadex.org/threads...ent-attribute-to-new-chapter-uploads.1766942/
That "silent uploads" feature would allow for less annoying outlinks by avoiding these chapters in the recent uploads feed.

Speaking of suggestions and groups, is there any plans to ever increase the limit of blocks for groups and uploaders? 25 is pretty low..

Not sure tbf, since while storage-wise it wouldn't really matter (even if we take into account the current 7.96M active user count), the main issue would be in terms of CPU power for filtering and memory for buffering.
Also, you can probably remove "Lua Comic" from the blocklist, since they're currently permanently banned :02:

I don’t say this with any hostility but are there even any actual manga removals going on rn?

Don’t get me wrong, the spam in the feed is annoying to me too, and I honestly think it’s baffling that some workaround to it wasn’t found before adding all these chapters. I have no idea how the site works at a technical level and maybe it wasn’t implementable, but making the main feed practically unusable for multiple days just seems like a self-inflicted wound.

That being said, I see people complaining about manga getting nuked and as far as I can tell all that’s happened is that there are some new links? If I’m wrong then I’m wrong but I feel like people are just saying stuff that isn’t true

reading chapters for free. being annoyed when official publisher request links to the official website. i don't get you, if you just want to pirate series, just find another plattform. while many publishers take the big chunk of the money they make, it will at least generate some revenue for the authors and artists. if you don't like that, either buy the series when they release locally for you, move to another plattform, or simply stay quiet and accept the situation.

it's in their rights as publisher to do this, mangadex simply complies. otherwise, they'd kill this plattform quickly, again.
then it should die.

Could i suggest that such changes can be placed in the "ad" banners? Since the notice board is somewhat hidden. Sure it shows a number that there could be something new but then its 3+ months old posts

Nope, there have been no further removal requests (at least none that I know about)
All accepted takedown requests are logged in the transparency report: https://mangadex.org/copyright/transparency (most of them being for your average Solo Leveling copycat regression slophwas, but whatever, I guess)

I know the spam in the feed is annoying... sorry for that...
The plan was to backfill everything back in 2024, hence the suggestion I posted (back when I still wasn't a moderator) about the addition of a silent upload mechanism to both the API and the upload page, but after waiting over 2 years without further news, we decided to start outlinking instead of having to wait indefinitely.

Yup, it's simply new links getting added pointing to official (and by extension completely legal) services.

this shitty group ruined my daY....
for every upload they post i get this....

https://kmanga.kodansha.com/denied/403.html

what's the point to show an "official publisher" on my feed if every damn post they do is blocked to my access country?!
There's sadly no possible way for us to only display certain chapters in specific countries, so sorry for that...
Hopefully they'll eventually expand operations and cover your region though... until then, you can safely block or ignore the group completely so its releases don't show up on your end

Sadly I don’t think that will be done, but maybe adding a clearer way to know when there are unread notices and announcements could be useful, so I'll forward it to the team. Thanks for the suggestion!

If you no longer want to be part of the community and wish to delete your account, you can do so through the account settings. We're not forcing you to be here...
Quick link: https://mangadex.org/settings#account
this is a piracy website, links to anything official don't belong here, we read here because the official translations are garbage. from our point of view it just looks like more evidence you are doing a crunchy roll.

So what? That doesn't matter at all here
we read here because the official translations are garbage
That might be your reason, since at least you have an official service that publishes the content, but outside English there's absolutely nothing
from our point of view it just looks like more evidence you are doing a crunchy roll.
Correction: from your self-centered (and clearly privileged) point of view, which doesn't apply to the majority of users in the platform.
If you don't want to use official services, then simply look the other way, but don't be an idiot

Decided to block this, along with the other official publishers since they're spamming my follow feed.

On the other note, when I check it. All manga that was starting to upload by these official publishers making me notice that all the manga I read got bombed and all the chapters got deleted.
