The premise of this one is pretty shaky. I don't think a guild receptionist would actually have the authority to give out this task let alone assign it to a single person. The description from the receptionist makes it seem like the guild actually doesn't care about cultivating this land as she only said they sent farmers. This is obviously stupid when you know the place is full of monsters. You would need to send a bunch of warriors to stay they for a long period of time to establish base camp and keep it from being overrun. Given the farmers kept fleeing they clearly didn't do that or commit to doing that.

If it were to be revealed that the receptionist was actually trying to get MC killed it would make just as much narrative sense as if she were trying to genuinely help him. He's teleported into the middle of enemy land, there's seemingly no teleport back, there's no indication of reinforcements coming ever, there's no intel about the place provided, they have no issues with sending one guy there, and there's no issues with sending him immediately without discussing any cultivation plans. Sure the land may be the MC's as a reward but whoever put up the quest clearly wants to cultivate it for a reason so they should have at least an initial direction for it. It's totally reasonable to take all that in and think oh a big conspiracy to get Lord Dumbass MC killed.

Slaves can't reject you or leave you. I think it's as simple as that.
People reading stuff like this has so low self confidence and self esteem they don't think a woman would ever love them or something like that.

I feel like settings where people think this never have the Academy of Adventure. At the academy, instructors are going to have you use proper tactics in a safe environment versus foes (monsters, other students, or instructors) that can't be beaten without the proper tactics, so everyone learns what's likely to work and what won't ever work. Without, they just say here, you're rank F, so you can get to rank S without ever learning your lesson.

Tabatha is a rank S guild lady. She sold Alex that bill of goods like it was nothing!

And they have the trope where the cute and nice girl from the hero party leaves and joins the banishee, I love that twist.
