Assuming you meant shoujo (manga for girls) instead of shoujo ai (a bad old fashioned term for non-adult yuri): this author actually is a long running Shoujo author and only relatively recently got this series in a shounen mag. The demographics tags have been rapidly growing meaningless except as a vague indication of audience age but not gender or anything else, so it's not really surprising.Doesn't feel like a shounen manga.
