So the last part of the final ch dropped today for free on the official site... I didn't fully MTL it, just the last part.
Looks like he is the only one that died in the end. He sacrificed himself to save Tojo, to be precise, in ch 23 i think.

I thought it was bait like with the rest of the bullies, but there was a big time skip, and only he wasn't shown. Tojo just mentioned something he said to her in an interview as she remembered him, and that was it.

Take it with a grain of salt until we have proper translation that confirms it.

Yeah i saw that, but still... They could have done it better. Really didn't like this development. I won't say it ruined the whole story for me, but it could have been so much better.

Yeah, the ending was so rushed, everything after that was kinda like an afterthought, I had to double check it to make sure I really didn't miss a thing.
