Isn’t that how it’s pronounced if it’s a part of Cyrillic script/Slavic letters (the ones used in Eastern Europe and Russia) instead?

Same with “Pi” pronounced as “Pe” or “Pee” when it’s a part of Cyrillic script, but “Pie” if it’s a part of the Greek letters.

To my understanding Shadow uses Greek letters and not Cyrillic since the names used are like “Alpha”, “Beta”, “Gamma”.

Can’t say I’m an expert in this matter though. /shrug

Tbf, I’m guessing the Japanese raw probably also pronounce it as “Kai” and that’s why the scanlators wrote it as such.

Correct, χ is pronounced as カイ (kai) in Japanese.

greek person here, i know almost all greek letters from the greek alphabet are not pronounced correctly in English, for exaple, beta (Ββ) is pronounced 'vita'

for gama (Γγ) is pronounced (i am not sure how to write the pronunciation actually, the g is pronounced like how you pronounce the y in yes, i guess?)

in delta (Δδ) the d is pronounced like the 'th' from (the)
