@gum_rummy Is this the first time for you? I've seen that one in... a lot of settings actually, with a surprising number of them not even being full on porn. A thing to consider is that "tantric magic" is even a thing people believe in in our own world. Right now, there's a whole bunch of people from various beliefs having sex to finish a spell or such. Leaving aside whether it works or not, since that's a can of worms I don't particularly care about doesn't change the fact that it's happening. People doing the deed for a brighter tomorrow through sorcery or the like.

@Velsy Even if the magic princess was the main perpetrator, I think she and others were at least letting it happen. I wouldn't expect mercy to come easily from someone in his shoes if she had much interaction with him after he was basically made into a slave.

@Glomoro I just hoping theres going to be at least one ally for him. Guess I shouldnt get my hopes up, seeing this is a revenge manga and most likely every is "hidden" bitches/assholes and full of lies and abuse.

@Velsy the demon lord type thing caught my interest for that. When he saw her real form for that brief moment after killing what she had become, it gave me the impression he's going to find her before whatever set off that transformation. Since humanity and 3/4 of their heroes are proving to be kind of scummy, they probably backed her into that particular corner so he can sympathize.

@Glomoro I've seen it before but usually as a blatant excuse to add sex scenes to a story.

I'm not inherently against people including it but as with a lot of things, it seems like there are creepy, uncomfortable ways to include it, and ways that make it seems like it's alright. The main character being raped, or

brainwashing a girl then raping her, or taking a girl who's family's being threatened and telling her the only way to save them is by her having sex with him

, all of that struck me as excessively gross, dark and unnecessary. People only fuck in this series when they're being forced to, or to increase their level cap. I don't think good tantric magic is supposed to be so dark (but what do I know).

It's easy to argue the rapes fit into the story because of the magic system their world uses, but there doesn't seem to be any story reason to include this type of magic except the author wanting to add rape scenes.

I suspect a sex-based magic system would leak into other elements of their culture at the speed of light (we have lots of phallic symbolism, fertility gods, etc. in the real world and NO unambiguously real sex based magic) but this story seems to be set in a by-the-numbers LN world, minus the grimdark. And I think someone could argue that the grimdark/rape is how that magic system transposes on their culture, but as we can see by the main character's reaction to it, the fact that it's kept "hidden" and the fact that he was initially blindsided by it, it's actually not an accepted part of their culture at all.

@gum_rummy I definitely agree the author just wanted to include scenes like that. Even they don't seem to think it's strictly necessary though, you should check out the other series by them that's up here if you haven't yet. It's in the same universe apparently, but makes the pair of them feel like opposite sides of a coin or something. This one is a hero going pointlessly dark because why not, that one's a demon lord who just wants a peaceful life.
