wouldn't it be wiser to capture and imprison the villagers instead of killing them? doing that you not only remove a possible leverage you would have over the MC but you also cut the only thing grounding him, without them theres nothing holding him back.

MC placed a rule on himself to only go after those who harm him or those he care for(toys, lovers, friends). So in order for him to go after her, she needs to attack first.
This is largely because he is insane, but it's also the last line stopping him from completely becoming like all those that fucked him up in the first place.
