@thegentelman or they could have done any number of things to stop the executions, like healing up a bacteria that devours everyone on ground level or triggering the barrier early and taking advantage during the distraction.

It's pretty silly really. But you're correct in that there's no point in stopping now. If you can save 5 out of 50 people that's still a positive result. It's not like they're going to be spared, anyway.

@givemersspls time reversal probably requires a massive amount of mana and in chapter 1 he had gotten hold to the philpsopher's stone inside of the Demon Queen to supplement his own. Without that, that you're mentioning is likely not possible.

We didn't see the faces of the victims...That's a tad bit strange. Are they passed out, is the mangaka trying to keep the work for drawing everything low or does that hide some surprise twist of the plot, like he already turned them into zombies and they are going to eat those soldiers?

I agree totally with his logic. It's them who are killing those innocent people to force him to either give up or out himself as a monster, so he can't start a rebellion or something. The only thing I don't concur with is, that with his power he could have come up with something, that would have saved those people. He instead prefers to make a show out of it, so he can gloat/have his revenge/destroy morals. Then again he would be called a beta for doing otherwise. But if he actually manages to save those people, then everything is good in my book. Maybe those people have to "die" so that they can live in peace afterward. Let's hope for the best.

What he wants is to exact revenge. His loved ones are only a means to that end.
He would make friends only to watch them die so he could take revenge.

well you are right in some other mc that brood in the middle of saving that resulted in more casualties.

Why would he love all the people of his old village, though? Shouldn't he only, really, care about his family, relatives, and friends? The rest would be merely people from the same place. Perhaps closer than people from another town, but nothing he should feel responsible for. That is, if he still even possessed a sound mind. That "Ha ha ha ha" dude certainly doesn't seem to realise he's dealing with a madman, more or less.
