Pretty sure that the only way to really understand someone is when you're able to actually put yourself into their mind set. I'm too apathetic to do that. So I can't understand what, to me, is an obviously stupid mindset.
It isn't 'natural' for any animal in nature to think that way. Only the upbringing and morals of your life and surroundings can cause you to. My upbringing wasn't even close to 'nice', lol. So I never developed such a backwards ideal. Blaming the victim is wrong. But you're saying its completely 'normal' for a victim to blame themselves as the victim and that's okay. Which seems silly to me.
I'm not a sociopath, either. I do care about people. But only the ones who matter to me personally. I'm more of an "I'll help someone directly in my path. But if they're across the street, they're on their own" type of person.
Guess we'll just agree to disagree. Or rather I will, and not remember this within an hour or two :)

this manga is edgelord at times but I appreciate the MC calling out the ridiculous idea that the deaths of hostages being held against him are somehow his fault instead of the fault of the people doing the killing. In so much media that trope just gets a pass for reasons I don't understand.

If person A points a gun at person B and tells person C "Do x or I'll kill person B" and then shoots person B when person C doesn't comply... person A is still the one who shot person B. Whatever responsibility person C has in person B's death is waaaay less than person A who fucking shot person B. But in so much media they treat it as if the person C has equal or even greater culpability than person A.

Instead of preventing their actions, he's simply allowing them to carry it out so that he can continue to fuel his urge for vengeance. I think he knows that he will feel nothing and have nothing at the end of his journey. He has cast away his humanity in order to close off that part of him that suffered greatly in order to avoid falling prey once again to those who take advantage of the naive.

@Crusade GReat! Fucking finally someone gets it. "Revenge" isn't him wanting some sort of justice. He completely embraced how its only value is that trill when enacting it. Remember how he got addicted to drugs and abused and warped. All of this made his senses of pleasure warped. He has a literal hard on for revenge. This is why he can rape and stuff without a second thought.
