I guess this is the consequence for spirits who linger too long, a second death. Though I guess it's only because if that black box kaii that lingering spirits have to fear otherwise our boy's grandpa wouldn't have stayed too long.

Maybe the ghost that got eaten was the friend he mentioned to the frog. Also our boy shouldn't have to deal with kaii san who don't appreciate him.
