Not exactly how it works. The Count is a mirror to whoever speaks to them, not just to whoever is in the dream, as there can be multiple people sharing it. He does not take on aspects of the person, but merely tells a person whatever they already subconsciously know. As this entity kills people by telling them a maddening amount of information, they cannot actually know all of that information subconsciously already, and hence the entity is not the Count.
