I am seriously loving the grander plot and how they are giving it to us. I figured killing that one kaiju wouldn't be the end. Not with the flashbacks and intro to the history of kaiju themselves. I imagine they are gonna delve into stopping kaiju all together and given the long history it makes sense for them to not know much in reality. Origin of 8 was the last part of the last page, holy hell that armor in the past was sick I hope we get that.
