I think your guess is good, but I'm not sure it is at all in keeping with the theme of the story or even genre (there's been a decent amount of emphasis on self-discovery of one's sexuality, which would not really fit).

But who knows, maybe the story will find a way for the readers to have their cake (Yuri in this case) and eat it too. Or maybe it won't, and we all get a crushingly sad ending out of nowhere.

As for the person talking about dimension jumping earlier, there's also no confirmation of any of that (and I think that's even less likely). Our best guess so far is simply that the author forgot that the MC had an Uncle and gave her an Aunt instead.

It does... seem like a really odd and major thing to mess up. But I still feel like thinking this manga is going to go all Qualia the Purple on us is probably the least likely theory of all.

Of course, everything is my own guess, no leaks from the author or anything.

For the theme of the genre, yeah, I guess it has to comply... And it actually could if we take if from the perspective of the human image of monster polyp colony. Like, with each iteration, that image matures and becomes more aware of such themes. I mean, take the jellyfish life cycle. It take turns in genderless (polyps) and gender (jellyfish) reproduction. I think, the girl is somewhat the later cycle.

As for dimension jump, I can make a wild guess that the story after "dimension jump" take place in a future when the polyp colony developed such good image of human that it capable to produce very persuasive human copies that doesn't even realize they are not humans (like the OG girl). All or most of human left the island (or maybe even extinct as a species, ha-ha) and the rest are these copies with fake memories the polyp colony gather long before and put into them. Actually, it might be that the great-great granny is actually that grand-daughter of president who got gravely injured and somehow happen left on the island and the story about hand-tentacle is just something that the polyp colony remembers and put into the copy of that granddaughter girl, but it's just a possibility.

I was going to say that this is a perfect of two of my favorite things, eldritch horror and yuri, but then I realized this shit is ongoing for 7 years and only 2 volumes with more questions than answers, and I just feel so bad about all of you still sticking to it. Maybe in 10 years it will make sense…

Just why is the pace like this? Has the author ever commented on that? This author was able to pull Sankarea off as a monthly with a normal number of pages iirc. It's insane that this manga has been running for longer than Sankarea.
