I had started believing Kon must be a lure, like the bait of an anglerfish. That stands but still... It's good to have it emphasized she is/was a living person who was awkward for relatable reasons. Not a total fiction of a person.

Same, practically nobody on the island knew or paid attention to Kon except her family. But turns out monster is still a monster and it ate Kon. And now we wait.
