My thoughts as well. She did get that parasite slug munching on her head for a few moments, then its blood just remained on her face for hours after. It would be stranger at this point if the girl who was on 15 out of 23 volume covers died before the story's finale.

Seeing an amorphous blob has me saying "Oh fuck" way more than any previous kaiju. Everything so far has been something that would die if you made it bleed enough. There are no such guarantees with sci-fi monster blobs.

I predict that this new threat will, indeed, get very out-of-hand, very quickly, so the only option will be to have Konoe return to action (with whatever transformation she must have gone through in these 3 years).

Nobody wanted her to get killed off (except a handful of people who love dramatic deaths who are a vocal minority) so I'm not shocked she'll probably be brought back, and shown to be struggling with some kaiju disease or is mutating or something.

Might awaken as a Kaiju-sensitive "Newtype" like some of the others already have. We may even find out that repeated exposure to the biology of Kaiju is how some people awaken those abilities before passing them down to children.

considering the lampshading here, I don't think the author is going to bring the MC back, they wouldn't do that if they were. I think one of the new characters introduced here is going to be our new MC
