Because its diet isn't actually metals. They've explained this before that this one is eating metal thinking it would sate the hunger but at the end of the day, it's still a living creature made of flesh and it will figure out that these two-legged creatures ARE the food it needs.

Honestly the monsters body intrigues me because i really want to know how it could generate heat that much. Is it even possible to get his guts or digestion system to power electricity like

Would be interesting if it did hit Korea in the past and is preserved as that in folklore.

Their guess is probably symbiosis with microbes that metabolise metal. The heat they generate accumulates into something high enough to melt metals.
But normally the over 1000 C temperature would have been still too extreme for both the kaiju and the microbe to handle.
