That’s pretty standard though, to be honest. Even the guildmaster/mayor/father-in-law said so. Even in real life this is true: in a merit-based system the only thing to compare with is the rank.

Based off most ranking systems (both 2D & 3D) it usually takes months and/or years of work to reach the next tier. Anytime you have a greenhorn (our D-rank MC) doing things that veterans (Mr. B-ranker) can’t do, it breeds suspicion and jealousy. Especially if the veteran doesn’t witness the deeds first hand.

Same thing happened with the prior adventurer in the town til he understood; and now he is trying to be part of the harem
