It breaks my heart to say it, but you're right — I fear that, going forward, 'getting along with hopelessness' is something that all children will have to learn growing up...

Though, thinking about it and the manga, perhaps the opposite is also true. Perhaps us adults need to learn that lesson from children... I certainly have taken some lessons from those two. Going from the more metaphorical Girls Last Tour story to this (pretty sharply pointed at current events) prequel is rough. Accepting the sadness of living just to die, but enjoying the journey ~vs~ Yeah, us humans are aware of everyone's right to life and freedom and instead choose to drone each other and build concentration camps.

Yeah that's kinda the point. Saturation is exactly what limited pd is poor at. Might kill a few but it's moot when theres more bombs than you.
