From what I remember of the LN, it doesn't really. The occasional thing (each different in circumstances), but it never changes the focus.

It does, it still has him be Lidy's bodyguard and accompany her inside. There's more buildup to it, while the manga feels like "he shows up, he gets thrown in the cave," but it still happens.

I think there is an argument for talking to Eizo. In that besides being the bodyguard, he is supposed to be in front making a path for Lindy. His job is to get her safely where she needs to go, but to do that he is the one determining the pace.

Also, if you find yourself with a bodyguard in a dangerous situation, where some higher authority, like the police, are giving you clearance to move. They will likely be talking to your bodyguard, and you will be doing what your bodyguard says. If you have a bodyguard you will be deferent to them on matters of safety, as that is their job.

Together with chapter 20 is easy to guess that the mythril sword acts like a catalyst to kill powerful boss-tier monsters, in the precedent elves expeditions they were forced to use it, possibly multiple times in one short period, that broke it, Elf did not use the sowrd at all and kept it safe until the end for that, is not made for melee combat, at least not with minor threats.

The elves trying to solve problems on their own seems to be because they don't want humans in their territory, and see how they do things, from the stuff happening in chapter 20 it seems possible they don't want to be seen together with monsters as both live through mana, not hard to imagine human extremists starting to hunt them for sharing a trait with monsters.
