they did try to kill it but it regenerated before the guy could deal the last stab the comic shows this.

using two of those energy balls in a row would presumably take too long given the charge time.

This is exciting. I really like when he’s able to show off a bit, and I know he wasn’t going for the kill but just distracting it long enough for the Liddy ball, so hopefully next chapter or the chapter after we can see him with the sword. But most likely won’t happen since he’s trying to take a back seat when it comes to decisive fights.
