The more the author keeps hyping this up as some form of 10D chess, the more of a dud it's gonna be once the big reveal is going to happen. The twists don't feel as big as she thinks they do.

It's funny how he keeps acting like he's got any stakes in this though, enough to want to take care of it by himself for whatever reason and keep the actual involved party out of it. Maybe someone also needs to explain to him that being a family is more than just having blood ties. How many times did he actually meet his biological parents now? How the hell does he call that person "dad" or "family"? Dude, just nope out already and live your life.
Kind of shows that academic brilliance isn't all you need to be an intelligent person.
