thats only if they were purged due to DMCA. banned groups and their uploads are entirely erased, not hidden.

It was, but then the group got purged from Mangadex by (overly?) zealous mods.

Based on the info I can remember and cobble together from other posts and a bit of searching, the purge was because the other group was hoarding work on their own website to drive traffic there instead of just being on Mangadex. MD allows groups to post slightly ahead (like a chapter or two) on their own site as long as new posts there keep pace with uploads here. When groups just put up a few chapters and then stop posting while advertising that more of the series is on their site, then it becomes a problem that results in bans and upload purges.

Also IIRC groups that have been flagged for this in the past have been given opportunities to make things right. I believe, for instance, that KDT Scans at one point was threatened with a ban for doing this but they've stopped and now keep things up-to-date on here and that's earned them clemency. So if the old group from this got the boot that suggests they weren't interested in changing.

And then the stuff uploaded yesterday got cut because it was reuploads of the banned group's work and that group was flagged "do not upload anything from this group" when it was originally deleted.

Well, it was kinda ambiguous, my phrasing, I meant mangadex should make them show, not that I was doubting because I couldn't see it

I get it. it feels odd to know it was further along but have no record of it. but in part I guess its because when they are hidden but still there it ends up passively advertising the group who originally uploaded it.

it's also hard to tell sometimes because depending on if the group or the user was banned sometimes the chapters are still available, I have even seen a bunch of chapter uploads that don't know who uploaded it... somehow??
