@Serenata Considering she was hauling something heavy, it may have something to do with being lazy or avoiding responsibilities(likely due to drinking). Usually the punishment has something to do with the crime, although it's likely there were other sins she was getting punished for as well. It's just that she was getting punished for a specific sin at that specific time with other punishments probably waiting for her elsewhere.
