I don't think the Mangaka feels restricted by the tags mangadex assigns to the work.

Hard disagree. The author is playing certain manga tropes (nervous sweating, piercing glares, characters wearing uniforms constantly) and turning them up to 11 while making them an actual thing happening in the story. Also, this:
