What happened with the dwarf blacksmith reminds me of one of the first chapters of Aa! Megami-sama, where a Buddhist monk recognizes the divinity in the FMC (as she is a literal goddess descended from heaven, but trying to keep it on the DL) and weeps as he thought himself accomplished. He goes on a journey of self-discovery and improvement, leaving the temple to the FMC to manage.
