The story itself is really interesting, it is a rarity to find a romance manga with finished translation that i still haven't seen and its not some echii garbage, therefore i got so absorbed that i read all of it in one go.

But, wow, i stayed up all night to find out how this story will eventually end and that's what i got? That's so dumb, i am so disappointed, why couldn't it have ended without all that
"i reincarnated as some random child, but i still got my memory intact, lul" Imo it would have been better if it ended on the rooftop and got her body restored + their age wouldn't be 7 years apart
, so freaking dumb.

Story 9*/10*
Ending 5*/10*
Overall: 7*

It's that they ended a large overarching romantic arc with the two of them alone, on a date together, clearly romantic setup all around, moonlight confession and everything...

...And then end it with her Ex showing up, her changing personality, realising she likes her Ex more than the MC and running off with him, ditching their date and abandoning him.

They tried to retcon it later, but the damage was done.

For people wondering how the story was “retconned” (there is no proof they did this or diverted from original story plan), the shaky fan theory is that after the sales backlash on merch etc they decided to make Jin a descendent of
Ozuma (the “ex”). It was never even implied that Nagi had ever been sexual with Ozuma or had a romantic relationship, only that she cared about him deeply as a friend and her upset came from the specifics of how he had disappeared before (it involved sacrificing himself to save Nagi from corruption), which upon seeing him again caused her mental shock and a temporary personality reversion. In the later flashback she is depicted as asexual, aromantic and emotionally disconnected from the world and people around her, and Ozuma has a completely separate wife and child (through which Jin is eventually born). His relationship with Nagi was that of a temple bodyguard and something of a mentor for connecting with the world around her and teaching her about humans. He never once attempts to seduce her. It’s never even implied or suggested. All throughout Nagi’s corruption arc she is still depicted as wanting to have Jin with her and, after initially running away from him out of guilt, upon spotting him on the street again she tries to capture him to take to her “lair”. Before this she is shown as abducting other men as well, but it’s never suggested that she does anything sexual with them and only baits them into thinking something like that will happen in order to abduct them to her lair because she doesn’t want to be lonely. She also abducts Tsugumi as a “maidservant”because she thinks it will make Jin want to be with her, as she’s under the impression already at this point that Tsugumi is better than her - so yeah everything circles back to her wanting Jin. Ozuma was merely a corrupted vessel of a former friend that she merged with due to shock and sadness and believing she needed to be purged from the land.

Whether this was the original story plan or not, who knows, but it’s ridiculous to think she would take a 2 year break just over some fan backlash. Her severe medical condition related to brain-bleeding was later confirmed by her brother. It was very dangerous and apparently she barely survived the first 24 hours after the bleed happened. When she came back her workload was cut in half or more (her condition is permanent) and chapters were only released every 2 or 3 months.
