Next chapter with the axe huh? From previous spoilers it sounded like it had a lot more going for it so I'm expecting a cliffhanger to "go buy the novel" that doesn't exist for Western fans.

From what I remember of the spoilers, this wrapping up pretty quickly from here isn't entirely unexpected (though I wouldn't have guessed only one more chapter).

Shizuno is cute enough for interest to tread water, but I don't think I'm going to miss this tremendously when it's gone, because I low-key hate all three of them, and fully expect that to not change with what's coming up.

I do appreciate Money Minting's scanlation efforts, though.

Really, only one chapter to go?
So are they just not gonna cover the most interesting part of the light novel, or is it gonna be a rushed conclusion?
Bummer, I didn't think this was as bad as the score would imply.

Such a weird series, you've pretty much made all characters involved unlikeable and nigh on irredeemable from the onset.

Both main girls are pieces of shit, MC is a spineless cuck to agree to the premise. You then do standard romcom hijinks whilst 99% of the people who read chapter 1 want everyone in the series to have bad things happen to them. Or for the MC to have a spine. If the MC has a spine there is no series though.

NTR fans don't even get that despite the title since it's functionally not an element for the whole date battle part, the date battle part won't make people warm up to the characters because of the NTR premise. I dunno what the audience for this is but it's appeal must be niche.

Fitting the twist into one chapter would be funny

wasn't the twist effectively spoiled in chapter 13? sure, it's a single panel with a line of follow-up from the MC on page 8, but even thinking meta-wise I figure it's enough to reveal the entirety of the FMC's plan where it pertains to the MC, and some of her dialogue following his saving her from the stalker basically explains why she's done everything she's done.

Maybe I've just read too many of these and am jumping to conclusions...but that one page was what told me she and the MC knew one another as kids and he helped her, which spawned a long-lasting love of him that she carried into high school, and that he's forgotten--and she decided to "steal his girlfriend and blackmail him into a relationship" to get a chance to date him and be with him.

The weirdest thing about this is is girlfriend actually broke up with him over this stupid plan, even if shes "faking it" it doesnt make much of a difference

I've of a mind that the whole of the series is rather poorly executed by virtue of every character being super unlikable.

The ML for being well & truly spineless in the face of the FL's behavior, while in his head pretending that he's pushing back as each and every word and action he takes proves the complete opposite;

The FL, assuming my guess based on what I pointed out in ch.13 p.8 above is accurate, decided to effectively cuckold the ML via his current relationship and then blackmail and harass him into "trial dating" her, as though anything that may or may not exist between them justifies her absolutely shitty behavior; and

His present girlfriend (at the start of the series) first cheated on him, instead of simply breaking up with him in favor of the FL, and then got all pissy and possessive like she didn't attempt to leave him first, and seemingly wanted to backtrack on her own wishywashy nonsense behavior in a "have your cake and eat it too" type deal. while showing zero accountability or self-awareness in how godawful she was toward him.

I mostly am curious as to what the end-game for the FL has been, because the ML as-presented is woefully inadequate as even a potential partner for someone like her. She would have no reason to ever look his way, much less twice, much less cuckold him and then force him into a relationship with herself, without some monumental amount of shared history that only she remembers. And to go these lengths, in such an underhanded and manipulative and coercive fashion, just to get him to look her way belies a personality that I would never want around me if I could help it.
So something's gotta be the case for her to consider any of the actions she's taken, idiotic or toxic as they are, as justifiable in getting him with her, and it needs to be substantial in her mind, and it needs to involve them both.

But I don't dislike any of them any less, regardless of the answer, nor do I think this series is undeserving of its current MD rating even if only accounting for the portrayal of the primary cast.

You're doing a good job on this date to repay her for saving you but she didn't really, and if anything you saved her. What is with this lazy excuse for development?

A bad author

Also isn't the novel wasn't a failure?

First kiss? Is this kindergarten?

This chapter somehow makes the whole setup look even more stupid in retrospect. These characters are old enough to have actual relationships, yet Shizuno supposedly "stole" his girlfriend while apparently never even having kissed anyone herself?

Then what was exactly stolen here?

The manga wants all the drama and language of serious relationships - girlfriend stealing, betrayal, romantic rivalry, jealousy - but treats an actual kiss like some enormous forbidden milestone? It makes feel the relationship feel like children playing boyfriend and girlfriend while author tries to make it some devastating love triangle.

And it especially makes Shizuno's original role ridiculous - she was introduced as some confident girl who casually stole Souta's girlfriend and then went after him too. This creates the impression that she actually knows what she's doing romantically - and now we get "my first kiss" shit near the end like she has less relationship experience than premise implied...

What the hell was the original setup supposed to be then? Did she steal his girlfriend or just steal the seat next to her at lunch? That's rhetorical question, I don't give a shit about novel. For a manga built around relationships, even axed, don't be fucking afraid to let the characters have a real one.
