What a surprise, sexism in a Japanese story. Who would have thunk it.
Yeah, it's pretty jarring when everything's so low-key and relaxed but then it's all like "MEN NEED THEIR MANLY ISOLATION TIME WHEN IN PAIN" just like what is this even I don't understand XD
To be fair, the person saying it is implied to be a character raised by Yakuza so it seems plausible that they'd think that way (no place for bizarre preformative manliness like organised crime syndicates, really). Yet the authorial viewpoint seems to be endorsing it as correct without any sense of the thematic contradiction compared to MC and his other friends going "let us communicate properly when we are troubled!", so either they're doing a clever long play where these ideologies will come into conflict, or the author is really breezing past some wild cognitive dissonance here.
