c'mon, it takes some time to get over somebody and for the MC its been like a month? month and a half? also given his new fancy looks basically the same as Riho it's no wonder he's confused. Also remeber his (correct imho) realisation that he's also somewhat at fault for idolizing her and not judging as a person who she actually is. His question about mommy-issues was also a way to get rid of the awkward silence - whenever you feel awkward don't you also just blurt out something semi-relevant to fill the air?

what I mean to say - I actually commend mangaka for making a good psychological portrait of characters with actual flaws and strenghts
