The 3D battle in the anime PV looks better than expected. Kinda like a slightly-smoother Granblue Fantasy Versus, but hopefully the full battle choreo will be more complex than everyone just swinging left and right.

Not sure about the novel, but the manga never showed that she could heal herself. So I dunno why some people would even say "Why didn't she heal herself?"

Even assuming she could, last time it took her out after one use. Sure, best case scenario, he might not have needed the heal. But it's entirely plausible she wasn't able to tell how grave his injury was, and chose not to take that chance.

The anime looks a lot better than I expected, I really thought it was gonna be another abomination of an adaptation. CGI seems pretty decently done. While I don't expect it to be as amazing to see as the manga it seems like the action will be pretty good for what it is. Cautiously optimistic now

Not bad, they blended the cg decently well tbh. That was my worry because one of the biggest grabs for me on this was the fight choreography and how well it was translated just in the panel. So animating it they gotta hold that feel.

Hypocrisy implies contradiction. As we saw, he never did anything for the sake of goodness. If he did a good thing, it's for his lady, not because it's good. In the end, he is like a sword who choose his master. A saint might wielded him for greater good, but now the vengeance snatched him and wielded him for itself.

iirc, the mangaka took a break a lot as well, not sure from health issue or something else, because 3 years = 30 chapters (raw is up to 30), and this is a monthly manga, so they didn't post a chapter for around 6 months

half a year break is quite long for monthly series mangaka, but well, i could be wrong

Hmm, I admit I was worried how they would handle the fights. The Manga takes great pain to make the fight choreography not only look good but believable. From that short Sword crossing Sequence I say they are at least "trying" as they animated different swings and proper impacts.
Now we wait ....

I don't feel like arguing about the contradictions or lack thereof within his actions, but at the very least engaging in acts that would cause Laffey a lifetime of guilt at best if not outright trauma and catastrophic emotional distress should he succeed and she ever finds out constitutes a spiritual betrayal of the highest order. So maybe he's not a hypocrite, he's just a monstrous traitor instead.

Yeah, the difference is that for most moral schema, a mad quest for revenge, especially one that doesn't involve the helpless innocent, is still barely within the "you can turn back and repent" zone. Being involved in human trafficking and experimentation takes you firmly out of that zone. Honestly, I would be interested to see that confrontation and Laffey possibly rejecting him, if only temporarily, because he's "gone too far." Still, I don't trust any Japanese writer to not immediately jump on trying to redeem even the most sick and twisted of monsters. Though I'll be satisfied if this dog simply gets put out of its misery as a cautionary tale of how averting our eyes from reality to cope "drives us to our demise," as you put it.
