I haven't read the chapters on here yet and have no idea when I might give them a shot, but frankly "This is for the fans of the franchise" is not a valid defense. You're allowed to like what you want to either way, but if even a fan of the franchise can't come up with something better than that I'd assume you also recognized that there was something lacking about it that keeps it from being entertaining in a more general sense than "just for fans."

@Glomoro "It is for the fans of the franchise" mean that they won't take time to explain the history behind the story and the characters. I mean will you go to the Harry Potter musical without reading any of the novels? This can't be read as a stand-alone without any knowledge of the game story, the game mechanics and the historical knowledge about characters. It may sound unreasonable but this is how the industry works. They release anime, manga, fanbooks, movies, etc, for the fans of a franchise which the people who aren't fans won't find them interesting because they don't understand the story behind it. An example is the newest Fate anime which you won't find it interesting unless you have some knowledge about the franchise, the FGO game and the previous Fate anime.
Any fan of Touken Ranbu will find this manga interesting but you won't.

@miyako19 None of that is really any more of a valid defense than it was before. If the newest Fate anime is in a similar position, that just means it shares one or more of the same flaws that this might if it's "only for fans." For starters one of the biggest reasons they'd bother adapting a game's story into an anime and/or manga is to advertise the franchise to potential new fans. I don't see anything about this that says that was not even a tiny part of the plan, so if it's weak in that area then it's still a flaw. It's not like I'm saying it's unforgivable or anything, but flaws are flaws. Pointing them out can help people know what they're getting into when they start reading or watching stuff, or the people making things improve on stuff for next time around.
