I mean, he's still pretty much a door mat.

But it's less cruel and more endearing. The first couple of chapters were basically him being at the receiving end of her sadism. Lately, it's more of him trying to act like a Shoujo ML or catch her at her weakest only to end up being vulnerable and caressed by her. It's a lot cuter.
