Hmm. I wonder what's going on here. We do know that her powers come from some sort of spiritual possession. Maybe the charm is blocking that?

I think Kaya-chan can actually hurt humans, like other ghosts can, she just instinctively doesn't / doesn't know she can and doing it might be crossing the line that make her human 'facade' fall apart.

Getting motivated to hurt humans by the festival guy and those ghosts using her friends as vessels might be the trigger for the next arc.

If we hadn't seen her dad, I'd think she was the sexorcist's daughter with how hard she stomp those ghosts.

She could be Yayoi, from Dark Gather,'s sister.

How does society even function when there are so many ghosts around just kidnapping and killing people? You can't take two steps without running into something.

Thanks so much for picking this up! Especially since the anime was announced not too long ago. It was sweet how Kaya-chan reminded Nana of her sister (Kaya's Mom). I hope this development helps warm their relationship if the Spectre inside Kaya ever goes on a rampage so the Ebisumoris don't decide to eliminate Kaya.

With respect to the possession of the kids (assuming it IS a possession and not the spectres' copying their corporeal forms while the real children are spirited away into some sort of limbo), it was shown back in Ch. 34 that Namu could separate a spectre from a physical body so maybe this is a skill all high-level mediums can perform?
