That ending feels kind of rushed, the launch system coincidentally activates with any blood as long as there's some familial link? so any bum with some small filial link could have nuked the city into space all along, a link so small it can still be detected down the generational line years and years into the future

And then Machete girl is yeeted into space and it ends?

It Feels like something they just added to justify the blood at a mechanical level beyond the thematic one when Machete girl fights the robot, but that instead made it looks like the whole scene was a cheap excuse added last minute, and while it is true that the extra focus on blood was a reactionary addition in response to the criticism from the judges

Even if the ending remains unchanged (from the start Machete girl was meant to end in space), the way they get there now feels clunky, even if they didn't concede to the censorship, by unnecessarily doubling down they worsened their product all the same

I really hope Sakurada didn't had any hand on the script for this one, and only did voice work

well not any bum, they'd have to be able to dodge all the ootoris, dive down deep into the center and then nuke the city. but yes the security seems bad cuz in the period of 10k years ago, anyone would be able to activate it.

the theme about machete is exploration just like asakusa, willing to sacrifice and risk things in order to learn more about the world. tho they keep saying blood has no meaning, there is some meaning here. u have to risk losing blood (experience pain and loss) and the goals that u wanna achieve (launching city into space so u can go doran the exploran) requires blood (sacrifice and pain). blood here represents life. it resonates with the old director thinking about his grandson: there is nothing wrong with bleeding, people grow through experience, even if it causes pain, its necessary.

as for it being rushed, u have to understand this is a 15 minute work by amateur high school students who had to fit an entire story into it.

cant comment if it made the work better or worse by emphasizing the blood cuz this is a manga and we dont have the previous version to compare it with, so i cant make that judgment.
