i do understand what Runa intends to conjure up from this plan but , it is very messy when Ryuuto is involved. considering Ryuuto’s and Maria’s past , it’s a plan that will incur more harm than good since Ryuuto is part of the plan. Ryuuto could have just stood at the sidelines , consoling and rendering advice to Runa as she proceeds with her operation

Hear me out. I think it would probably be fine if their affection for Ryuuto made an opportunity to get closer to each other. I'm not say that they should share him romantically, since Rina needs someone who can give full attention to her own needs and wants, but like Maria can be Ryuuto's Nerd Bestie and Runa can be Ryuuto's Girlfriend. This way they'll have a common talking point on Ryuuto and that will open the way to find more things they have in common.

It damn near breaks them up. In the aftermath of that, Runa basically switches up to something much like you suggest. And rightly puts the focus not on "friendship" but the bond between sisters.
