If they want it to work out anyway, threading the needle despite likely pitfalls, that's the story they'll tell.
OTP defenders hear the rallying cry and PROTECC!!

Both these characters are great. The 27 year old horn dog and Meguru both. I ship them together. Mii-chan and blood-sister keep away!

HEY You know what popping off this chapter? Drama Visual Puns in the background! Merlion vomit! Punch of Sensibility!

It was either Einstein or Garth Algar who said "I say spew. If you blow chunks and she stays, she's yours. If she bolts, it was never meant to be."

The parting advice her ex gives her seem OK in passing but then you think about it for one second and its not great advice at all...

Having read up to chapter 21 in Spanish, most of you here aren't ready for the next few chapters :dogkek:

Mii-chan should date her (and by her i mean me).

Logically speaking Mii-chan is the clear choice here but it's clear that Kasane don't like her romantically.

Kasane is thinking on a decision while Meguru will have to make hers as well. Let's see how much of a trainwreck the next chapters are gonna be.

But why do even the ostensibly "sane" characters in these type of stories always spout the "you should focus on what matters", mumbo jumbo. I think the age-gap and the adult-minor aspects matter a lot. How about we get at least one story where the "sane" character goes "no, don't do that".

This is fiction, where an author is in control of all the outcomes. If they want it to fall apart in a disaster, then that's the story they'll tell. If they want it to work out anyway, threading the needle despite likely pitfalls, that's the story they'll tell. It doesn't make too much sense to think "this would be unhealthy in real life".

I mean, how many action stories have a protagonist say, "no, I need to handle this on my own"? Strategically, it's a terrible decision that would more realistically get them killed. But it's done to show something about the character (whether they succeed or fail). That's the kind of stuff fiction lets you do. It's about exploring something that you normally can't.
Look buddy, if you replaced the main character with a guy, the creepiness would be obvious. It doesn’t magically become acceptable just because they’re two girls. The age gap is still disturbing. I hope the author surprises us and goes for the more age-appropriate relationship, but considering the usual trends in Japan, that seems unlikely. The MC still comes off as super creepy and predatory, she is lusting after a teenager, while our teenager is clearly deeply mentally and emotionally damaged. You’d have to be pretty far into moral relativism to think this is a match made in heaven

When did I ever say anything even remotely like "match made in heaven"? This story is exploring a certain idea. If you can't handle reading a fictional story about that idea...don't read it?

There are a lot of age gap stories out there with all kinds of different dynamics. I don't have to think that there's nothing problematic about such a relationship in order to enjoy a story about it.

That’s terrible advice. I can’t believe the author is still going to proceed with the romance when the story has already shown how unhealthy it is for everyone involved. They all need psychological help, not a relationship

Needing psychological help does not mean people don't need relationships. That's stupid.

These things are not mutually exclusive.

On page 10 Mimei has some solid advice for those whose feathers are ruffled because Kasane likes Meguru. I don't understand how anyone can be shocked that this is a thing that is happening in the yuri manga titled Contract Sisters, which may I remind you started with the working adult main character acting out a big sister role play for the underage waitress she had been admiring for a while.

That's not to say I don't have notes, because I do. Have Kasane be properly disturbed by the kiss and weigh the damage caused by breaking it off with Meguru vs staying with her. A period of separation, with a time skip, so Meguru can figure out if she actually likes Kasane or just as a sister replacement. Stuff like that, challenge and question the relationship more, more angst, more yearning. But none of that would change that this is a taboo romance, and dancing around the issue longer (e.g. after being kissed by Meguru, Kasane only realizes her own feelings four years later) would just function as a more elaborate disavowal and cushioning of the taboo at hand.

Sometimes I feel like some people try to read ALL yuri that gets uploaded here, even the series that from the start feature content they find objectionable, and then get mad when the same objectionable content doesn't magically go away over time. Or maybe they read this series while half asleep as a habit, or forgot the main premise but refuse to refresh their memory. (How else is it possible to miss Kasane worrying about getting arrested for indecency with a minor, since chapter 3?) Or maybe some people get an ego boost from reading about stupid and immoral characters and then booing them, like watching trashy reality TV, which I kind of understand I guess.
