This manga is so warm, it makes me wanna cry. The father is so reliable and kind that sometimes, I kinda feel sorry. I wish the mother and his children would spoil him a bit more.

Also, dear fictional characters, please adopt me-

Man, it's reassuring to see that most of the commenters have this book pegged. From pretty much the start I've been persistently reminded, "Yeah, this is why she's on her second marriage alright," as she's consistently cold, unreceptive , manipulative, dismissive, and even occasionally violent in response to her endlessly caring husband's love and affection, treating him like little more than a punching bag and servant. If this were a real relationship, I'd give it another 5 years before she's shopping for her third marriage. Even a saint will eventually run out of patience and her lack of care and affection in return for his font will only serve to eventually burn him out and turn him into a bitter and dejected person that will no longer tolerate her shit.

And even though it's her second marriage, suggesting that came sooner rather than later for her first husband, she doesn't seem to get it at all. She doesn't seem to understand that her behavior will only serve to push him away and once they've drifted apart because of it, she'll never be able to get him back and she'll only have herself to blame for it. This isn't a warm, fluffy, charming story, it's a cautionary tale about how not to treat your spouse as they shower you with love and affection that you take for granted. She fails to realize even if it weren't Japan, the third time most certainly isn't the charm, it's a dire warning to other men that she's radioactive. And since it is Japan, she's legitimately lucky to have gotten a second shot, let alone with St. Boring Office guy that treats her like a princess. Some people just don't learn.

Somehow reading this again made me remind how wonderful slice of life stories are, I feel so very fluffed right now but yeah as stated by the other person. Wifey treats her husband like a servant and it really bugs me since hubby really needed to be spoiled sometimes, also that chapter where he got really busy and somehow forgot to spoil his family then the wife sulked for having a hard time.
I could say she could have realized that she can't really do anything without him and should treat/spoil him sometimes, why sometimes? because this manga will be plain as hell and fishy if the wife's personality is plain and a perfect wife. It's a perfect setting for a NTR development.

And ain't she lucky to meet someone who can love her wholeheartedly even she is considered as a bitch/childish by other people (as also maybe the reason why the 1st marriage was a failure), isn't that how love works? A bit naive saying but it's just a matter of perspective of how we interpret their actions and interactions.

@DFM1412 She's not just lucky, she's overwhelmingly lucky to find someone that can tolerate that

Would be nice to see some more moments where she isnt selfish for example

Its really sad how some people cant appreciate this story for what it is and judge it from a cynical angle. Is it the 100% ideal relationship that real couples should strive to follow? No, and the author never pretends like it is. I'm sure most people would prefer their partner to be more outwardly affectionate than his wife is, but lets stop acting like shes a nasty bitch that takes advantage of his love.

She clearly treasures him even if she doesnt show it in obvious ways. Not every couple expresses their love the same way as others. Its stupid to judge their relationship based on your own personal standards. The man doesnt need your pity when hes the one with a wonderful family he loves.

People complain about the wife but I see nothing wrong about how the husband is treated. Not every family will always act sweet and say "I love you" all the time especially an Asian family. This family is still sweeter than plenty of real-life families I saw and all of them are still happy. Each family is different.

@EnRyuu_surf It is a shounen because it was published in a shounen magazine. Story, content, characters don't have a role in determining a manga's demographic.

Speaking even as a girl, this woman is an awful partner. I hope none of you guys defending her seriously think this would be acceptable behaviour from a spouse in real life, no matter how pretty she is or bland you are.

We forgive abusive love interests in fiction either because it’s played for laughs or the story is just trashy, but in cases like this where it’s supposed to be fluff, it’s just off putting.

Man the husband is going through alot, glad he’s still happy and pulling through but I hope something in the future changes the wife a little. I don’t want a huge character change just something to make her realize that she has a great husband who’s trying his absolute best for his family. The wife treats the husband badly, obviously not all couples are lovey dovey but it’s not really shown that both of them love each other the same amount.

@miyako19 if this is your idea of happiness then thats fcked up

All those "Asian" marriages you saw are usually forced or arranged and since divorce is seen as a major social suicide they just bear with it, it doesnt mean its okay to bicker or abuse your spouse majority of the time.

And I have seen plenty of marriages fail because of this reason

Also as other people keep mentioning this, if he's happy good on him but that doesnt take away the fact that the wife is abusive and selfish as fck and she is also one-time divorced for a reason ;)

Dang, this is such a sweet and nice marriage manga. Can't get any closer to reality and the Shin5 definitely is experiencing the joys for parenthood haha

Only one chapter to go. I hope it won't take 1 1/4 years again before this is complete.
Keep up the good work! :)

Man, I really like the sugar but I can't ignore the subtle bitterness the manga has. I don't get why she'd get married to her husband just to be so mean to him. The husband is treated very badly and his efforts are not rewarded in any way. If you're willing to look past this as comedy, then the manga packs a boot load of sweetness. But I can't seem to get this fact from bugging me every time this happens.

It'd take a whole lot of commitment to smile through those times. Since we're just one chapter short of the end, I don't think we're getting the character change we were hoping for. Maybe it's just the opinion of the author that such acts in a loving family are common after all and should not be thought of as disturbing.

It was a nice ride. Thanks to the translators.

Oh, I recall dropping this series on the unmentionable site because I felt so sorry for the husband all the time. Looking at the other comments, I'm not alone with that view. If he's happy with the way he's treated, it only means he's mentally broken. That can happen. There are plenty of women regularly beaten by their husbands, yet they still behave as if everything was okay. The human mind is mysterious. I suppose back in the primitive times when a 35 years old human was already old and people lived in constant pain and fear such psychological resilience was extremely useful. Nowadays, not so much unless you live in North Korea or something.
