"Kakutou" also seems to possibly mean "battle" - so the banner might mean something akin to "stubborn monkey battle style" - by context of the manga maybe meaning something like he's devoted to fighting (playing) in the same straightforward way every time?
Edit: Also, 30 km is just 3 hours of slow jog. Six hours round trip every day, meaning he can easily fit in a 8-10 hour workday and proper sleep. But this would probably mean he was more like a broker, buying stuff fresh off the boats then running over to find a buyer, then running back and arranging for transport so they can be delivered quickly.
