I know I don't speak for all Americans, but I don't put ketchup on most of those things. I can barely stomach it as an adult on anything other than burgers, corn dogs, or fries. It's interesting how much your palate changes as you get older.

ketchup to the japanese is probably like soy sauce or wasabi to americans; they think the other puts it on more than they actually do.

ketchup with eggs is more common in japanese cooking than american i think (eg omurice). or things like mayonnaise
