First, she's not actually jealous of her little brother, she's annoyed with him. Her little brother crushing on her girlfriend is annoying, jealousy doesn't have to factor into it.

Second, sure, some people read for escapism and are not interested in realism in what they're reading. That's totally fair, but that's not this manga.

Third, they're not in a loop! The sequence of events is 1) Mitsuki quits the band, 2) They don't talk they just have sex instead, 3) Aya goes to a concert without Mitsuki, 4) Aya tells Mitsuki she's pissed and doesn't want to sleep with her, 5) Aya gets drunk and leans on someone that is not Mitsuki, 6) They sleep together and both of them feel pretty lost in the relationship right now. That's not a loop. It might not be "progress" in the straight line sense of progress, but things are happening and their relationship is changing, as are their dynamics.

If you don't like how slow it's moving, I recommend taking a break and coming back.

"They're not communicating" BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY WANT YET! Not every yuri couple has to be on a 100% therapy healed perfect communicator streak sometimes girls gotta flounder in comfortable awkardness and rediscover the spark that lights up their lives and then (and only then) they can see their life and the place each other have in it in clearer clarity.

"Just communicate already they've just been going on and on with this." Yeah & I bet when you go to a maze in an amusement park you get annoyed you can't see the exit from the entrance and call it "bad maze design". If the pacing is too slow for you pick up a few other manga or take a break from this for a month or two and come back with a backlog.

Them not communicating isn't getting in the way of the narrative IT IS THE NARRATIVE! Don't go to the soup store if you don't want any soup! Don't go to the "manga that's about two girls who found each other in high school navigating changing values and relationships underpinned by a strong sense of connection while struggling to articulate it." store if you don't want any conflict!

You realize that they were connecting and solving better YEARS AGO (in their universe) right?
People are fed up of this situation because they are going backwards and have issues on things that they did better in the past

And when you kill for no reason at all a character's progress...that's bad writing, it's not you being smart because you can accept it

Sibling "hatred" used in the best way. Lovely. That'll be an interesting event next week.

Whole lotta people in these threads recently who apparently are 100% logical and pragmatic and have never found themselves at a loss for how to broach a topic with someone important during a period of relationship tension.
I say just enjoy what you enjoy. If you let it, the Internet will make everything seem miserable at all times. Every series. Every fandom. It's just people and it's mostly just the internet. Can't wait for the next chapter.

Are you talking about me? You must be because I'm logical, pragmatic, not jealous, speak my mind all the time so I had to create a work persona and hate misunderstanding so much I always force the conversation even if I get burnt most of the time. The problem is solved, I just need to lick my mental wounds during the next day 😐

I have not actually read any of the recent chaps, just skipping straight to the comments to see if this arc ended.

No they weren't solving it better years ago. Their issues didn't need communication to be solved back then, now they do. They literally didn't even talk about their feelings when they started going out, they just made out and then it was weeks later Mitsuki had to confirm with Aya that they were in fact going out.

Character progress doesn't mean issues are dealt with once and resolved forever. Characters backsliding is also not bad writing. It's whether the context makes sense for the issue to still come up.

Seriously, look at any TV show with good writing. Mad Men, The Wire, Deadwood, Veronica Mars, etc. The characters have consistent problems and they don't go away just because sometimes they find ways to deal with them. It's the context that matters.

I don't mind Aya getting jealous of her little brother :)huh:) if that's what it takes for her and Mitsuki to finally confront each other and make up (and out :lewd:?)...
I just hope this isn't just going to turn into a "music magically solves everything" kinda situation, that'd make the whole build-up feel even more pointless/frustrating than it already does (for the majority of commenters)...

Thanks for the upload!

I get that people want escapism and stuff, so I'm not knocking anyone who is frustrated by the lack of progress.

However, I also enjoy when I can relate to fiction and damn this is relatable. The scary part IS communicating. Sure, if they talked it might be better. But where they're at, if they talk, they might also end up breaking up. And that's scary, so you'll do whatever you can to try to keep things as "normal" as possible. Even if that means ignoring your own pain.

Obviously, I want them to talk, but please don't think that this is poorly written, it might just not be what you want to read (which is fine). This is still just as good as the beginning, but they're adults now so it's just messier and harder.

Again, not knocking anyone, just wanted to offer a different perspective.

Great... not only this entire late rival skit is tarnishing the story but now they wont even talk it out things? Like, Mitsuki really is gonna pretend nothing happened? Well, in hindsight they only ever talk it out when things blow up so no progress there i guess.
Not to mention Mitsuki is in the middle of a major identity crises but somehow Aya its not allowed to be a part of that. Just lock this girls in room for a week please.

Aya stop being jealous, your little brother is not crushing on Mitsuki. This tension between the two is a little suffocating. Damn, I enjoy a little drama but come on, let’s get this show on the road and see them make up and kiss 😘

It's honestly fine. At this point I feel like almost half my enjoyment of this series comes from people malding in the comments.

they complain about pacing, about page count, about lack of communication, about circular problems, about Blue & Red Yuri, about other characters showing up, and at a certain point I've grown convinced people just don't know how to critically analyze text.

You and @flowsthead show up consistently chapter after chapter making actual sense when parsing what occurred, with a few others here and there; but otherwise it really does feel like the majority of people saw wish fulfillment in the HS portion and have forgotten all of what actually went down (and, importantly, what didn't) and now suddenly act like the author can't write and that this is just a bad series.

The fact they also come back every chapter to reiterate those complaints is intriguing at this point to me, as well.

"If you don't laugh, you'll scream", type thing.

Its ironic most of your enjoyment comes from others malding when you might be the one malding most lmao. "Waaaaah how dare others not enjoy and praise a story i like." Which honestly just sounds like you don't actually enjoy the current arc if people complaining is half your enjoyment.

People keep coming back despite complaints because they did enjoy the story, clearly or they wouldnt have read till chapter 169. It is possible to complain about something you like, you know that right?

And while I do agree with you that critically analyzing text is becoming a lost art, trying to act like you're so superior for it on a manga (of all things) is cringe. Not everyone is trying to do that and just want a story to enjoy reading, to turn their brain off for 2mins and just enjoy. My advice if others not liking what you like bothers you so much, stop reading the comments? Or dont make snide comments about them and just talk to those that feel the same way as you.

I will explain why this is so frustrating: it has all been done before. A new girl was getting interested in Mitsuki and Aya was getting jealous. Mitsuki’s popularity was blowing up and Aya was worried that SHE didn’t have anything that made her special, but wasn’t talking about her stress levels and injuring herself. Mitsuki having to decide between music or prom and her and Aya not communicating about it.

And the ultimate brain twister? The fact that Mitsuki was producing her own music, was on the cusp of getting discovered solo but NOW she’s giving it all up because she can‘t find someone elses band to join? THAT is what doesn’t make sense. She was an independent artist writing her own music and suddenly she won’t do that?

THESE are the loops. THESE are the weird characterisations. Characters should push the narrative, NOT the other way around. We have done this before and it’s like those stories happened to different Ayas and Mitsukis. It’s like a Metroid game: we’re in the sequel and the narrative has forced the main character to lose all of their progression and start from square one.
