this plot hole pops up really often (or maybe all the time ngl) in manga with the "character A is a crossdresser and B thinks they're two different people" set up; eg kinioto/green Yuri* and kaisha to shiseikatsuI was thinking the love interest was genderfluid. I'm not sure how the MC hasn't noticed the voice sounding similar or the love interest is good at changing the voice
My guess is that since manga is solely a visual medium and sound/voices aren't involved, the idea of "wouldn't they realize they sound the same" just a detail that the mangaka [understandably] neglects to consider. I wouldn't really ascribe in universe/meta meaning to it unless we actually see it bc in a lot of these manga it just never gets brought up/hinted at ever LOL
*(yes mitsuki isn't TECHNICALLY a crossdresser but you get what I mean)
